In honor of the International Day of Puppetry (March 21), Eulenspiegel presents a favorite community puppet show, Immigrant Stew at the Chat 'n' Chew!
IMMIGRANT STEW AT THE CHAT ‘N’ CHEW is humorous, touching, and quite timely as we welcome immigrants into the rural Midwest. Cathy Schmidt-McGillicutty, played by Monica Leo, is the proprietress of the local cafe, the Chat ‘N’ Chew. She’s upset because her daughter wants to marry a member of a Mexican immigrant family. She confronts her prejudice as flashbacks play out scenes from her own family history. The flashbacks are performed by community members to an accompaniment of music by Ron Hillis.
If you're interested in being part of this year's company, as a puppeteer, musician, or crew member, please let us know by email or by calling 319-627-2487.
