MAKE A MEMORY in 2018-2019! Bring a special friend, child or adult, to an Eulenspiegel show!
The 2018-2019 Season includes something for every age and every taste, including an expanded menu for adults. See folk tales, historical fiction, a brand new show about Johnny Appleseed and other apple heroes, and, for the mature generation, a Puppet Slam, Dessert Theatre For Adults, and Puppet Film Shorts, curated by Heather Henson! All ages will enjoy Liz Howls, our guest puppeteer from Minneapolis with two shows, one for families and one for adults.
Start the season by attending the Great Plains Puppet Train, a regional festival through Puppeteers of America, taking place this year in West Liberty with thirteen shows, numerous workshops, and an evening party with Quintron and Miss Pussycat from New Orleans! Register for half price if you live in the West Liberty School District and see everything, or buy tickets for selected shows. Beat the winter blahs by attending a family show during winter break. Join your friends and neighbors by participating in the popular Community Show (this year: John Brown's Journey, presented on the 160th anniversary of the title event)!
New this year: three "Maker Breaks" for adults and teens! A chance to sit down with friends, old and new, and create something fun with your hands while sipping wine or other beverages and nibbling on snacks.
All events take place in downtown West Liberty, a hopping little town with lots of restaurants and a lovely 1910 vintage opera house.
Thanks to generous support from the U of I Community Credit Union, the United Fund of Columbus Junction, and many generous friends donating to the Teri Jean Breitbach Memorial Fund, we are once again bringing puppet shows and workshops to neighborhoods, maybe including yours, all summer! Our residencies by Mexican guest puppeteer Eli Portugal have been so popular that we've decided to make them annual events! This year, Eli and Monica will be touring Stories and Cuentos, Uncle Rabbit's Adventures and their bilingual community show, Five Suns of the Aztecs. Call 319-627-2487 or email for touring information and local date details.
Developed and performed by Monica Leo and Mexican puppeteer Eli Portugal, co-founder of Mojiganga Arte Escenico, this performance includes two classic Mexican animal tales.
