The West Liberty Children's Festival, sponsored by Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre, is just around the corner!
The twenty-sixth annual festival will take place Saturday, September 16, from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. in downtown West Liberty on Third St. and Calhoun St, with a schedule chock full of performances, crafts, and activities! Following the Children’s Festival, Latinos Unidos takes over Third Street with Fiesta Latina, featuring lively music from 3:00-10:00 PM!
This year’s festival will include a puppetry mini-festival, featuring performances by Corcoran Puppets from Wisconsin (see photo!); Blaqueberry Puppets from St. Louis; Matthew Owens from Chicago; Fever River Puppets from Wisconsin; and of course Eulenspiegel Puppets.
This year’s street performers include Absolute Science with Big Bang Bubbles; giant puppets by Brant Bollman from Oskaloosa; Kalimbaman and the Yahoo Drummers, musicians; face painter, Linda Kelty; and Living Creations, balloon twisters.
Facebook users may remember Chicago puppeteer Matthew Owens for the shows he did out of his second-story window in Chicago during the pandemic.
The festival also offers food, beverages, a Mexican market, a tiny train, a performance by a local mariachi band, and a host of children's games and activities. Performances will take place in our lovely downtown park, Ron-de-Voo Park.
Eulenspiegel turns 50 in 2024! Help us celebrate all year long with a birthday party, happy hours featuring vintage Eulenspiegel videos, memorials to our deceased puppeteers Teri Jean and Eli, and readings from Monica's puppet memoir Hand, Shadow, Rod. Watch this space for a schedule!
Eulenspiegel Puppets performs a brand new show featuring the fun adventures animals had while humans limited their community contacts. Based on true stories of animal antics during the pandemic, with a lot of imagination thrown in.
Eulenspiegel Puppets presents a new adaptation of The Bremen Town Musicians, a beloved Grimm’s fairy tale! In this version, Till Eulenspiegel’s donkey retires and makes common cause with a bluesy hound, a rockin’ rooster, and a jazzy cat.
Who will win the big election for Leader of the Beasts? Will it be Benny P. (for Progress) Beaver or Terry E.
Bring our bilingual show, Uncle Rabbit's Adventures, to your community!
